Tired of insurance running MY HEALTH!

Oh man, where do I start. Been dealing with ....

  • Family doctors just don't understand but act like they do.

  • No local rheumatologists... I drive 70 miles to see one.

  • Insurance that I had to go with when my other insurance bailed out of Minnesota. The new one denied my medicine after being on it for years and it worked very well. I'm sore, hurt, have lots of pain, and I'm frustrated.

  • Retired and not living the life I was hoping for.

  • Nobody understands that you can have serious pain in the morning and by the afternoon might be walking fine even though I'm in pain. I actually think some family and others don't believe I can be in that much pain.

  • I should've bought stock years ago in the Tylenol/Motrin corporations.

  • I'm getting so close to being just done with this all.

  1. , the challenges and frustrations of insurance are ones that are so well known and understood within the community. Personally I think the power that they wield over health decisions is ridiculous - those decisions should be left up to the doctors and patients. Please know that this community is here for you, and don't hesitate to reach out here anytime. And, in addition to the community here, please don't hesitate to reach out to your doctor if the mental and emotional impact of the disease and this situation are causing you to need some extra support. Also, as you mention the pain (and Tylenol/Motrin), I wanted to share this collection of articles with you about some symptom management - just an option to compliment any treatment/pain relief you're already finding helpful, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/managing-symptoms-naturally. Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

  2. Insurance companies are given entirely too much power over our treatment.
If your insurance won't cover the cost of the medication that works for you, try reaching out to the pharmaceutical company - most, if not all, have plans in place for lower cost or no cost assistance with the medications not covered by insurance. Your doctor should be able to assist with that.
As to nobody understanding - that's exactly what this community is here for. We all get it because we're all living it too. All the bizarre symptoms, the inconsistency of symptoms and treatments, the modifications we all have to make, and the stress/frustration of it. Don't give up. You're more than this disease.
