I have arthritis in my ring toe and feels like 2 middle toes are getting to be arthritic. Any help?

  1. Aside from continuing care with your rheumatologist, taking your meds, and following recommended guidance, I would recommend using Diclofenac gel (brand name Voltaren). It works really good on joints that are directly under the skin, like fingers and toes. It is a NSAID just like ibuprofen, but in gel form that is absorbed through the skin. As a result, there is less systemic absorption of the drug, hence fewer of the side effects typically associated with oral NSAID medications. You can buy Diclofenac gel over he counter now.

    1. And get yourself some good shoes. You want a lot of cushioning, and ideally a stiff shoe that doesn't flex your toes. And a roomy toebox. Some of the Hokas may do, but they tend to run a bit cramped in the toe box for some people. Skechers also makes a rocker type sole (none flexible) walking shoe with a lot of cusion.

      1. Hello . It's addition to Eric's information, I wanted to share a link to some community recommendations for shoes, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/shoes. Have you spoken with your doctor about your toes? Or even a podiatrist? One of our members also asked about arthritis in the toes in this thread as well, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/forums/do-you-have-toe-arthritis. You're definitely not alone! Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
