Do you have toe arthritis?

First off, I know this is very painful. How do you live with toe arthritis and what lifestyle changes did you have to make? Are you able to wear boots?

We would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)

  1. I do have pain in my toes but have never thought of it being PsA. Now I have to have it checked out I guess. Thanks for starting the conversation. Vickie W., Team Member

    1. Hello We should have been a scientist for this disease. We are the first ones to discover all the issues that come with it. Thanks for the feedback. Diane (Team Member)

  2. Yeah it sucks. My PSA symptoms started in my hands, but some of the most shocking symptoms were in my toes. That was when the dactylitis showed up randomly over the course of 8 hours. I went to sleep and when I woke up my 2nd toe on my right foot and swollen up and bright red. Slowly expanded to the 3rd and 4th toes. also have some toes effected on my left foot but not as many.

    1. Hello , Mind started in my hands too, but they said it was everything but PsA. So sorry this is affecting you also. It doesn't bother my feet as much as it does my hands. It was so painful that I had to get a voice-activated computer to use. I am on my 8th biologic in over 20 years. They do great for my skin, but not the PsA. I was on methotrexate, but it was causing infections. Are you on any type of treatment? We would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)

    2. We sure have an illness that keeps on giving.

  3. Having arthritis in your toes or feet is the Pitts. My rheumatologist thought most of the problems in my feet and toes were from gout. Now that my uric acid levels have decreased the gout is under control and according to my last ultrasound there were no more uric acid crystals in my feet. But unfortunately I still have had to start wearing larger shoes because once I'm on my feet they do become very painful. The damage to the tendons and ligaments unfortunately has already been done and it's not bad enough for surgery yet. So yes PSA just keeps giving.

    1. Hello , I am so sorry you are going through this, but happy you are doing a little better. I have a friend that has gout and she is in so much pain.

My feet don't bother me that much and now I'm retired so I'm not doing too much walking. Do your doctors know how long it will be before they start discussing surgery? Diane (Team Member)

  4. Yes to toe arthritis bilaterally, as well as in forefoot on the left (the worst) that is in such an uncommon place that my podiatrist was concerned it might be bone cancer. He x-rayed because I told him I thought I'd broken it. We don't speak of surgery; he knows I'm avoiding any more of any kind long as possible.
