My Journey Living With Psoriatic Arthritis and Multiple Joint Challenges

Hi, I am 61 years old. I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in 2021. I have used Cosentyx injections for about 8 months. Sadly, I have not seen positive changes yet.

I have had some interesting and uncommon side effects. These include facial acne that required help from a dermatologist. I also get multiple bruises on my upper thighs. These appear 5 days after each drug dose. They show up even if I inject into my stomach. I am getting very disheartened!

Navigating joint pain and surgeries

I have tendinitis in most major joints. I also have bursitis in both hips and shoulders. I had a total left knee replacement in 2024. Now, I have a right hip replacement in 5 weeks. My right knee is also heading toward surgery.

I just got ultrasound results for my shoulders. I have very inflamed tendons and bursars. I also have tears in both rotator cuff tendons. I am about to try hyaluronic acid injections.

Managing my health is a daily task. My other conditions include:

  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Corrosive osteoarthritis in my hands and feet
  • Dry eye syndrome
