Second month sulphasadine

Overall stiff ness all over body pain

  1. Hi , thanks for the update and for reaching out. I know you had reached out after your first month on sulfasalazine and were wondering about the period of time it takes to notice effectiveness. Did your doctor give you a time frame for when it might be time to try something different if you're not noticing a difference in pain and stiffness after a certain amount of time? Unfortunately it can take up to three months for some people to get relief on sulfasalazine, but it's also possible that this treatment isn't the right one for you. Have you had a chance to reach out to your doctor about this also? I do hope that you start to get some relief soon! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. I'm awaiting my next rheumatologist appointment at the moment so I'm let you know when I find out.thinking of ringing tomorrow x

      1. The rheumatologist did say to me initially before he gave me the first script for sulphalasaline that in future he could draw fluid out of knees and add methotrexate.since I'm only on month two I'm wondering 😔if I'm expecting too much too soon?my tongue has been burning and sore?I wonder if this is because of the meds.he did say I may get pink urine and tears so..?x

        1. , please don't hesitate to reach out to your rheumatologist before your appointment, especially if you're having side effects you're concerned about. I see your comment was from several days ago, did you end up ringing the doctor already?

While it is possible that you're expecting too much too soon, it's also possible that this particular treatment you're trying isn't the right one (or the right combination) for you. It's one of the (many) frustrating things about treating PsA is that every person is just so different and every treatment impacts people differently.

Please keep me posted! I'm crossing my fingers that you can get some questions answered, and some relief, quickly. Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
