My Psoriatic Arthritis Treatment Journey: Traditional & Alternative Medicine

The story could be a book. The short version is Psoriatic Arthritis has taught me so much about self-care. I fought so long to not use biologics by changing my lifestyle. I started yoga, meditation, and stopped eating various foods. Fast forward three years ago and that wasn't enough anymore. I still do those things, as well as practice gratitude and a positive mindset. I have really changed a lot of my mindset this year and feel better about myself than I have in years.

Allergic reactions to treatment

I have tried various medications - oral and injectable. I have had allergic reactions to all but Humira. The Humira stopped working for me after not quite two years. I was it every week and the pain started to become intolerable though my psoriasis was little to nothing. I had a rare reaction to Cosentyx almost 5weeks ago. I still have some effects from it. I can't take it again - like many others. It did help my pain, though strangely my psoriasis is out of control.

Stelara for psoriatic arthritis

Today I took my first injection of Stelara. I am grateful for health insurance and patience programs - they are a lifesaver and I know I am lucky to be able to get medications at all. I have worked so hard to have a positive mindset and rid things from my life that were toxic.

Please send positive vibes that there will be no reaction and it does the job!
