Organs that PSA attacks

Good afternoon

I am writing because there is a possibility that I may have a kidney issue now. Just wondering if anyone has any kidney issues due to PSA or medications being taken and if so, would you be able to provide any insight to the disease.

Thanks, Lori

  1. When you say “possibility of a kidney issue”, exactly what do you mean? Your doctors should be ordering regularly scheduled labs every six months or so, annually at a minimum, if you are on any of the multitude of anti-rheumatic drugs. And if anything of concern turns up, they should be discussing it with you. It’s not unusual for labs to sometimes be a bit off, so they look for consistency, as a great number of factors can cause some of these numbers to fluctuate. While medications, and even the disease itself, can certainly cause organ damage, any concerns for this should be addressed directly with your doctors.

    1. Hi , I hope some of our community members with kidney issues share any experiences they have with you here. In the meantime, one of our members asked about this several years ago and I'm sharing a link to it here, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/forums/psa-affect-kidneys. Is your possible kidney issue related to the PsA or a side effect from medication. Did you doctors clarify any of this for you? -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
