Back pain

I am new to flare ups, thankfully I made it to 63 never experiencing them. In December 2021 I received my flu shot along with the Covid booster shot, ever since I have had flare ups. I have never hurt so much, it was awful, now I have it in the middle of my back, what can I do?

  1. @RGN2515 I too tend to have reactions every single time I get a vaccination, biologic shot, or pretty much anything. And also ended up with a terrible back flare just after New Years. Aside from taking OTC medications (Tylenol and ibuprofen) along with heat packs, I find a TENS therapy to be really helpful. You can get them at any drug store or online. Most of them have different settings for programs and strengths so it is pretty easy to find one that gives you some relief. However, it is one of those like "painful relief" things, if that makes sense. It zaps you. Also, I ended up having to call my rheumatologist and she prescribed a prednisone (steroid) taper to help my body calm down. Which you may want to consider letting your dr know as well. They usually like to document when you have a flare, especially if you are on a biologic or DMARD. I also regularly use CBD oils and things, but during flares it tends to be all hands on deck. I'm sure others will chime in on what they find helpful as well. Until then, I hope you are able to find a comfortable position on the couch or bed and have some help around the house. 😀 Take care of yourself. -Leanne (Team Member)
