Hearing

Has anyone found a hearing aid that helps with the fluctuation of hearing? Some days my hearing aids seem to do well, others it is like everyone is wearing a face mask and mumbling. I still work full-time in dialysis as a social worker and need to hear.

  1. What a great question, . I really hope that some of our community members who wear hearing aids can share any ideas or suggestions that they have for the most consistent one. Have you spoken to your audiologist about this at all? Or even checked out some online reviews for various models? It certainly does sound challenging, and very important with your job to be able to hear well and consistently. Hopefully the community members as well as your audiologist can give you some helpful feedback about hearing aids! Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

  2. I have an Dr. of Audiology I go to however the professional hearing tests in a sound proof room only show that I have nerve damage not that I cannot understand what is being said in the average setting. I wear very expensive hearing aids that are supposed to be the best ones for my hearing loss however the fluctuations in my hearing are not well covered and some days it sounds as if everyone is in a well with muffling. I believe that bone conduction hearing aids would be the ones that would work well for my hearing. When I research the ones I have found, they do not get good reviews. At 82, I question whether cochlear is worth the struggle.

    1. , that sounds really tough. I know you're not the first person to mention the frustration of hearing tests being done in sound proof rooms but not being able to hear (or understand) in an average setting. And it's understandable that the fluctuations in hearing are causing you to research other hearing aids or options. I really hope some other community members can share any recommendations they might have as far as hearing aids. Wishing you a gentle day! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
