Potential topical relief

Was talking to a friend the other day who has arthritis (osteo) and struggles with joint pain. His doctor prescribed something I wasn't aware of, but thought I'd share it in case it might bring some relief for some of you. I realize osteoarthritis is different from what we struggle with, but it still might provide some relief, especially on smaller joints.
It's a compounded cream, and therefore kind of expensive ($150/six ounces), but he said it was worth every penny - when he uses it he feels "normal" again. This is what he sent me:
6% Gabapentin
10% Ketoprofen
4% Lidocaine
Lipoderm (no measurement)
120 GM (no idea what that means, unless that's 120 grams of lipoderm? - the doc should know)
Apply one pump to affected joint twice daily as needed for pain.
I'm going to ask my doctor for a prescription - there's a compound pharmacy near me. Obviously I can't afford to use it everywhere there's pain, but if I could get a little relief in hands, elbows, feet when I'm trying to do things, it would be worth it.

  1. Hi , thanks so much for sharing about this. I hope that you can get some relief! Please, if you're comfortable, let us know how it goes with the doctor and, if you try it, how it goes with the cream. I'm crossing my fingers that you can ease some of the pain you're experiencing. Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
