I'm going with yes- but indirectly. I'll share my situation with itband problems:
I have real bad hips- something called femoral acetabular impingement or FAI with labral tears and so much more. That has caused trochanter bursitis and sacroiliilitis.
All that swelling an injury had lead to compensation in my legs and glut.
I've been seeing a physiotherapist whom diagnosed my with myofascitis syndrome. My itband and hip flexor are the worst.
Might be worth asking your Dr.
Little tip: fascia tightness cannot be "foam rolled"- I have found a technique called gua sha that helps and so does cupping.
