Has anybody noticed they have a short temper?

I was just diagnosed with psoriasis arthritis recently. I have noticed I lose my temper and get very angry at things which I never would have done before. I'm currently on plaqunil which I have been on for 3 years and just started methotrexate 7 weeks ago. My family doesn't understand this disease they hear arthritis and they just say everybody has it but I have noticed this with my friends also they don't understand when I say I'm tired and just want to stay home. Has anybody else noticed they lose their temper I don't like this feeling at all.

  1. Hi ddavey. Yes. When there’s pain or discomfort I’m fiery. When a good day. I’m sweet and cheerful. Steroid injections can make me even hotter tempered.

    1. Hi , your question reminds me of a story that one of our contributors wrote, about anger at her condition (and how it can be misdirected):

Chronic pain is a lot to deal with, and it's completely normal for that to shorten your fuse or your ability to cope. If this is a new, sudden feeling though, and you've recently started a new medication, best to check in with your doctor (as this can be a side effect of some medications).

      1. Thanks so much for letting me know that I'm not the only one having this problem.

        1. Yes I do. I am the grumpy guy.
