Severe back pain

So I was diagnoised 9 months ago with Psa. Started on Hulio and after 2 months plus was worse. Rumy then changed to coysentx once a week for 5 weeks just completed supposed now to go once a month but I need advise as I am due to see him on Thurs. My lower back pain is unbearable can't sit for any length of time hips , knees and ankles all affected now absolutely no relief. Can't even turn over in bed without pain waking me. Anti inflamatories ith codine helping but not great for my stomach. Any suggestions would be much appreciated or anything that would be recommended to talk to doc about. This has come on so fast and seems to be progressing fast - possibly query connection to covid vaccine?

    1. thanks so much for your message. It is so good to chat to someone who can understand what it feels like.i am so glad I found this forum

  2. I am on Cosentyx as well - those five weeks of weekly dosages are the loading doses. Biologics typically take 3-6 months to really kick in if they are going to. I've been on it almost 6 and have seen benefits for the last 2 months so I think it may be a little early for you to be realizing them ?

It has helped my back issues and I have read it has helped others that suffer from back pain - it is also used for Ankylosing Spondylitis. No drug is perfect, there is still pain, but it should help - one still has to be careful about movements that aggravate things, stretch, and be somewhat mobile to keep flexibility. It should also help with disease progression. I hope it kicks in for you !

FWIW, I went to Cosentyx from Hulio as well - got one good month from the Hulio. Also - I only recently went from Cosentyx every 4 weeks to every 3 as it seemed that during my month between shots the two weeks in the middle were the best.

    1. Thanks so much for your reply. It is so disheartening when I have not got any relief from either of the 2 biologicals . I am honestly afraid of what will happen now if he moves the cosentyx to monthly I know the weekly injections are for loading but I can't see how this will work.
I come home from work and am in so much pain solpadol and some antiinflamitary tabs for dinner!
Sorry for moaning I'm not usually like this.😥 I am just terrified I am never going to feel normal and have a nights sleep.😴😴😴 . Anyhow it is so good to hear from someone who knows what I am talking about. Rock on Thursday see what the next step is.

      1. Hi . No need to apologize. That's what we are here for -- to offere support and a safe place to vent when you need it. Unfortunately, doctors have no way of knowing which PsA medications will help which patients. So it becomes a game of trial and error. It's frustrating and often disheartening, but when you finally do hit on that one medication that is effective for you, it can be lifechanging. We have one member who finally found complete relief after 20 years of trying different medications. I hope that you soon begin to feel positive effects from Cosentyx. Waiting is the hardest part. If it still isn't helping after four months or so, I hope you will be open to trying something new. The good news is that there are lots of PsA medications you can try. Sending the best of all wishes for better days ahead. - Lori (Team Member)
