Brain fog, certainly. While studies have been done to investigate mild cognitive impairment in psoriatic disease, no clear link has ever been shown to exist. However, in some of these studies, the number of participants who demonstrated some MCI was as much as 50%, but other factors, such as lifestyles, could have contributed to these numbers. For instance, those with PsA may tend toward a more sedentary lifestyle, which in and of itself, is the underlying cause to a whole host of health problems, any of which could contribute to cognitive decline. I know, speaking for myself, I’ve experienced brain fog during severe flares, and it seems as though I probably had some short term memory issues when those flares were ongoing for a matter of months. And until I got off my butt, and started getting active again, flares were worse and more often, even with medication. But on the relatively rare occasion I do have a flare, and we’re talking once or twice a year here, I’ve found that remaining active gets me through it quicker, and with far less impact on my quality of life.
