I have had more problems with my teeth than most people. (maybe) I started having work done on my teeth before my wisdom teeth came out. They are very sensitive and fragile. I don't know if it is the medication or the disease but my teeth have been a big part of this journey with me.
How have your teeth been since your diagnosis? We would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)

Diane T - I just became a Member here so if I digress, I apologize. I am a 71 year old female - was extremely active up until recently. My journey began in small steps approx 3 years ago with dental issues. Teeth extracted, periodontal disease with scaling/root planing and most painful part, a locked jaw on the left side. I haven't been able to eat solid foods for these three years - still currently. During this 3 yr period I noticed scaly patches on my scalp but most importantly a scaly patch on my cheekbone/joint where my locked jaw is. I now have scaly areas throughout. These last 2 months have been very painful and frightening for me. Though my PCP, a new physician in practice, was/is familiar with all of my symptoms, refused to give me a referral to a Rheumatologist. I have tried to be calm yet strong in showing and discussing my symptoms with her to no avail. She basically "blew me off". I had to go over her and speak with the Office Manager who called me. The Office Mgr was extremely empathetic and made an appt for me to see an Internist who easily refers to sending patients to a Specialist. I am looking forward to seeing him this Monday! I will keep you all posted. Thank You All for letting me join.

Except for my front teeth all I have are crowns in my mouth. Although no one has said it’s from the PSa Iam sure it is.

I am 61 and just got upper dentures. My whole life I fought with my teeth. My fillings fell out, my teeth broke, and I got cavities under my crowns. I am waiting now to do my bottom dentures. I had psoriasis since childhood and PsA symptoms since I was 35. So yes I'm sure my teeth were connected to the PsA. I took care of my teeth and still ended up with bunches of crowns then dentures. What else could it have been?
