I'm seeing my doc tomorrow. I feel I have hearing loss. I'm going to talk to her about it. Thanks. I didn't know my PA may cause this loss.

Hi MaryG. I would be really interested in what your rheumy has to say about your hearing loss. I have been told from my rheumy that PsA does not cause hearing loss but I know it does according to the statistics that there is about Hearing Loss and PsA

Thank you so much Leanne for you excelent advice. I do not want to upset my rheumy as I dont have the energy to look for a new one. I will see her again on the 1st March so I will wait until then to do anything about it. As I have been told by family and friends jokingly that it is good to have selective hearing. Yes, it is convenient to not hear everything but I am a curious person and also wondering what I am missing.

I finally found a rheumatologist who recognizes autoimmune hearing loss. He referred me to a neuro-ENT specialist who has outlined a treatment plan. We are starting with a drug called Cellcept. Within a couple of weeks my hearing was better and the roaring in my ears stopped. Still have some ringing. When this fails, he plans steroid injections through the eardrum. When this fails, hearing aids. And when they stop working, a cochlear implant. They are working together to keep me hearing. Hearing loss, for me, has been the most terrifying loss of this disease.
