Band like squeezing rib pain

Good Afternoon,

I have been feeling a band-like squeezing rib pain off and on for a while now, but today it was painful enough to catch my breath. I was wondering if that is a known symptom related to PsA?

  1. Sounds like costochondritis, inflammation of the cartilage that supports the rib cage. And yes, it is a known symptom related to PsA

    1. Thank you, Eric, for that feedback. I am assuming is is just par for course and I just let my doctor know on my next scheduled visit. If anyone has any insight on helpful hints in dealing with it, I would sure appreciate it.

      1. Hi , I'm sorry to read about the rib pain. It sounds like it's awful to deal with. I'm really glad to read that you'll be able to discuss this with your doctor (it's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to chest pain) - do you have long to wait for your next appointment?

As Eric mentions, costochondritis is linked to psoriatic arthritis and causes pain in the chest area. Here's some information on costochondritis and its treatment options: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/answers/chest-pain-costochondritis-tietze-syndrome I was also able to find a couple of forum discussions on PsA and chest pain, which might be worth a browse:

Whilst costochondritis is a common issue among the community here, there may well be another explanation for your symptoms. I really hope that you'll be able to get some clarity from your doctor, and some suggestions for finding relief - both from your doctor and from the community here. Please keep us updated if you can. 1. Hi Catherine…. Thank you for reaching out and sending me those articles. I have read them and see that other’s describe quite well exactly what is going on. I have contacted my doctor and let them know. Will follow up with a quick update on the conclusion once they have given me their assessment. Thank you again… wishing you a very nice and pain-free day. Jennie
