Always Something New

I have had psoriatic disease for many decades now. PsA has been a challenge, but something new happened to me in the past year. I wasn't able to use my hands at all. I invested in a speech computer because of the pain.

I went to a rheumatologist who prescribed me Methotrexate, but I noticed my psoriasis started coming back. Long story short; I got to be over 80% covered. I was put on Skyrizi.

Oh, it doesn't stop here. I have developed 2 UTI's which are horrible. I have an appointment to see my PCP tomorrow. (9/21/23) We will figure out at this time if I can stay on my current treatment or try something new.

Is there a time in your life that you didn't see symptoms of an illness coming? How do you handle these changes when you can't stop them? I would love to hear from you.

  1. What unexplained symptom has shown up that you didn't see coming?

    1. It is difficult to accept the things you can't change. At some point, you just do. And do your best to live with it.

      1. Hello , I honestly agree with you. We can't change things, but we can let our voices be heard. We shouldn't have to suffer year after year because the medical community doesn't know how to treat our illness. Thanks for sharing. How long have you had PsA? Diane (Team Member)

    2. My left shoulder. I woke up a couple of months ago unable to move my shoulder or lift my arm. It is a searing pain. My regular pain meds, opioids, have not even helped so far.

      1. Ouch! That sounds so painful! I had a similar thing happen to me, not so long ago, It landed up being a pinched nerve and it was excruciating to get rid of. Have you managed to chat with your doctor about this?
