It's a #SelfCareAware Soiree!!

As you know, the (site) community supports one another in staying healthy and comforting one another when things go awry. Part of staying healthy is engaging in regular self-care. What’s self-care, you ask? Self-care is all about looking after and taking care of yourself - in a healthy way.

In fact - regular self care has been shown to help people improve their mental health, manage pain, have fewer flare ups, and more energy.

It can be hard to put yourself first and attend to your own needs - and so we want to help support you. That’s why we’re celebrating being #SelfCareAware.

In the meantime, tell us:
What do you do on a regular basis to practice self-care? Share by replying below!

  1. I am new to here. I have not been officially diagnosed with PsA yet . I have been diagnosed with moderate Psoriasis. I am currently waiting on the rheumatologist office to call me back with my first appointment time. I know there will be more testing involved. I use ice packs for the swollen fingers, antiinflammatories for the pain , Rx cream for the moderate Psoriasis patches , and naps for the fatigue. I'm a kindergarten teacher and after today am out for the summer. I hope to get healthy this summer by getting a diagnosis and treatment.

    1. Welcome to the community, Kathy! Have you heard back from your rheumatologist yet?

  2. Say NO when I need to for my own self care, finally!

    1. that is SUCH an important part of self-care. I'm so glad that you've been able to say no when you need to, and appreciate you reminding the rest of the community about this. You also might appreciate this article one of our health leaders put together about the importance of respecting your own boundaries, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/boundaries-stress. Thanks so much for joining the conversation and sharing what's been helpful in your own self care! Wishing you a gentle day. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
