Feeling sorry for yourself - Bad habit?

I found this quote today by Dale Carnegie (author, trainer):

"Feeling sorry for yourself, and your present condition, is not only a waste of energy but the worst habit you could possibly have."

When I first read it, I found it a bit offensive. But the more I think about it, I'm beginning to think there may be some truth in it.

Do you agree or disagree?

  1. I agree! I always try to think positive and that usually serves me well.

BUT, that being said, I’m firmly convinced that a little whining is good for the soul.

We all deserve the random “pity party” from time to time. It’s when the party never ends that it becomes a problem. Lol

Just a newbie’s two cents worth!

    1. I have to agree - sometimes I feel like I just need to get it all out...and if it's "feeling sorry" for myself, then so be it. Not many people understand chronic pain or illness...so you're kind of forced to have your own little pity party!!!!

I guess the challenge is not to get consumed by it? Which can be tough, especially when every aspect of your life is impacted by your health, etc....
