Deodorant

Has anyone developed a rash in armpits from using deodorants even the mildest kind with no preservatives, fragrances, or aluminum?

If I stop using for a couple of days, it goes away and if I use it more than five days in a row it comes back but if I try to use a regular kind it gets worse.

  1. Hi . Thanks for asking a question. Have you discussed this with your medical doctor? They are the ones who would be able to tell you if the rash is due to the deodorants or something else. Vickie W., Community Moderator

    1. Ouch, !! I don't seem to have a problem with deodorant, but this sounds similar to the reaction I get in the creases of my elbows/knees when I wear clothes that have been washed with fabric softener. Anything going on in these skin fold areas can be really uncomfortable 🙁

There's an article over on the psoriasis community which mentions a homemade deodorant (under "Does deodorant affect psoriasis in the armpits?"😉: https://plaquepsoriasis.com/living/armpits/ Could be worth doing a patch test and seeing how your skin responds to that? -Catherine, Community Moderator
