Your too young to have arthritis.

What would be your response to this remark? Our community hears this a lot. So many of us get diagnosed in our 20's and 30's.

How would you handle this? We would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)

  1. I just gave an informative speech on arthritis in my speech class and one important point that I made was that there is no age range for arthritis. In fact my daughter had JRA when she's was younger and unfortunately she did not outgrow it. Not exactly sure what type of arthritis she has now as unfortunately she has been diagnosed with NonHodgkin's Lymphoma and isn't responding to treatments and now they are thinking that her arthritis might be an issue to be dealt with also. Sorry, to get back to the subject of educating the public it's just a matter of taking time to explain about arthritis and where they can go to for more information.

    1. Hello , Thanks for some great information. I have met children along this journey who have JRA. One of my friends in the community has a child with JRA. She is a big advocate for this. I have attached an article that she wrote about this. I hope you like it.

You are so right we have to keep people aware of this and keep educating them. How is your daughter doing? Thanks for sharing.

    2. there is nothing to apologize for. I'm sure everything that is going on with your daughter is weighing heavily on you. I am sorry both of you are dealing with it. I think you are amazing giving a speech given this trying time. I'm sure the speech was incredible. Sending gentle hugs to you. Please let us know how you are doing and know we are here to support you however we can. Vickie W., Team Member
