My husband I had the pleasure of traveling out of the country recently. We were having lunch one day and I was talking about being able to walk so far with my psoriatic arthritis not acting up.
This young adult came over to the table and aplogize for interrupting us, but she couldn't believe I was talking about PsA. She was having her 1st appointment with a rheumatolgist and wanted my advice. I was so overwhelmed, but so honored that she got so much just listening to a conversation.
Trust me, she wasn't eavesdropping; I'm a loud talker. I did share with her to have a list of questions for her doctor. Write down all her symtons, no matter how small. She did share she was having short term memory. Most doctors are on a time frame, so try to get in as much as you can.
Tell your story. If you are worried about time, you can put general symptoms of fatigue, nausea, light-headedness all together. Do you have rashes, fever, anemia, joint pain and swelling, chest pain you want to be sure to mention this.
We talked for about 20 minutes and exchange information. I was happy that I was able to share a little of my knowledge with her.
Have you ever been in a situation where you had to just jump right in on the spot? It can be at a conference, doctors office, meeting, family gathering or even at a restaurant.
We would loved to hear from you.
