PSA FATIGUE

Its been 5 years now since i was diagnosed with PSA. At the moment taking methotrexate and tofajak . Although i don't have any pain in joints now but my greatest concern is always the fatigue. I need to sleep for hours and still dont feel fresh. My body feels like exhausted all the time and the exhaustion can be felt by looking at my face.

No rheumatologist can give me a satisfactory answer for the fatigue. Does everyone , with PSA, feels the fatigue? is there any cure for the fatigue?

  1. Hi , we hear your frustrations. The fatigue is indescribably awful and yes, unfortunately, many of us struggle with it. We ran a poll a while back and I'm pretty sure that over 90% of people said that they experienced fatigue. Here's an article on PsA and fatigue that might be of interest: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/psa-symptoms/fatigue Has your doctor ruled out any other causes of your fatigue? For example, checking for vitamin deficiencies or for sleep apnea? Whilst PsA can cause fatigue, it's important to address any other issues that might be contributing to it. Some people find that their PsA treatment helps with the fatigue (we hear this more from people on biologics) but some don't. I've personally had an increase in physical stamina with methotrexate, but I definitely still struggle with fatigue.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for psoriatic arthritis or any of its symptoms, and fatigue definitely seems to be one of the most troublesome symptoms to address. If you're interested, quite a few of us shared our experiences with the fatigue, over in the following forum discussion: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/forums/how-do-you-deal-with-immense-fatigue I hope others will chime in here with their thoughts and experiences, and I wish there was something that I could suggest that would be guaranteed to help you. It's so tough to deal with this horrible, pervasive fatigue. Sending empathetic hugs! -Catherine, Community Moderator

    1. , thanks for sharing. Sorry you are going through that, but I understand. Have you talked to your healthcare team about getting on something else? Let us know how things are going. Diane (Team Member)

    2. , I know what you mean. The sad part is that no one really understands how fatigue affects us. It's not just being a little tired. It knocks you on your butt!! My saving grace is that I am retired now, so I can lie down anytime. But it's a whole different story if you're working and have a family. Are you going to be trying another treatment anytime soon? We would like to hear more from you. Diane (Team Member)
