Need to know whether I have psoriatic arthritis

Can someone please advise whether my leg finger nails are affected with psoriatic arthritis.Attached the pic. I have psoriasis for past 15 yrs and recently I started getting joint pains & muscle stiffness frequently.

  1. Hi . Unfortunately, we are not medical experts, so we can't say for sure. It does look a lot like psoriasis though. Can you get an appointment with your dermatologist? Given your psoriasis diagnosis, the nail issues and the joint point pain, it would probably be wise to ask your primary care doctor for a referral to a rheumatologist. Hopefully, it's not PsA, but if it is, it is best to begin treatment as soon as possible to slow its progression. Keep us posted if you don't mind. I will be thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. - Thanks Lori for the suggestion. Will consult with my dermatologist & get back to you. Happy new year!

  2. Hi , alongside the helpful information and advice from Lori, I wanted to share the following article on how psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis can affect the nails: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/psa-symptoms/nail-changes I hope this is useful.

Personally, I initially had pitting in my nails for many years, but then my symptoms changed to the nails separating from the nail bed. Unfortunately, I would later find out that this was a sign that I was developing psoriatic arthritis. We're all different though! It's definitely a good idea to check in with your doctor, as Lori said. I hope you'll hear some more personal experiences from the community here. Warmly, -Catherine, Community Moderator

  3. I believe many, if not most, of us have had this same experience. While it is certainly a worrying situation, it is a bit of a silver lining to your cloud. Symptoms such as pitted nails, as well as other changes involving the nails, should help guide your doctor toward a diagnosis.
