Low Dose Naltrexone

Has anyone had any experience with low dose naltrexone? I have started this a few weeks ago and fingers crossed it works. I have been seeing a naturopath as well as my rheumatologist, but I have to say the naturopath has been way more helpful with my PSA. I have failed all meds with the rheumatologist due to reactions. So far, the LDN rx hasn't created any issues that I'm noticing. Just looking to see if anyone has any experience with taking naltrexone.

  1. Hi , thanks for reaching out! It's great to hear that you're having such a positive experience with your naturopath. I know a lot of our community members find combining standard medicine with alternative therapies to helpful in managing their PsA and symptoms.

I hope some of our community members with experience on low dose Naltrexone can chime in here. But, in the meantime, I wanted to share a link with you about LDN, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/clinical/how-low-dose-naltrexone-works. Within the article there are some links to a couple other community member's questions/experiences that will hopefully be helpful for you as well.

Are you already noticing a difference with your symptoms/pain? Please, if you're comfortable, let us know how you find it.

Wishing you a gentle day. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. Hi , alongside the very helpful response from Christine, I wanted to share the following forum discussion from , where they share their experiences with LDN, alongside their daughter's: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/forums/for-the-pain-try-this-one Hopefully you can connect with each other and share experiences! I have to say, I've only ever heard good things about LDN, and from people with such a wide variety of chronic conditions too. Hoping you start to feel some improvements with it very soon. Did the naturopath say how long it may take to feel the benefits? As Christine says, we'd love to hear how you get on with the LDN. Keep us posted if you can! Warmly, -Catherine, Community Moderator

      1. I posted on the benefits of LDN before. Just want to reach out and inform that you have to titrate up and so you may not feel any benefit until you reach 4.5 mg and are at that level for a few days. It certainly has helped me! Good luck!

        1. , thanks so much for sharing here. It's always good to hear personal experiences with these things. Do you mind sharing more about the titrating up? How long did it take you to get to the 4.5mg dose? And are you still taking the LDN now? We'd love to hear more about your experiences! Warmest wishes, -Catherine, Community Moderator

      2. They started me at .5 and I think it was 6 to 8 weeks before I got to 4.5 mg. I find this odd, personally, as every pertinent article I have read including those from Mayo and Cleveland Clinic say there are virtually no side effects for anyone. I am still taking it and it is still working. It hasn't completely eliminated all pain but I would say a strong 50%. Additionally, and oddly it has also eliminated my growing eczema problems.

        1. , thanks so much for sharing more with us all. I know we're all different but it does help to hear from people who have personal experience. So happy to read that the LDN is still helping you! A 50% reduction in pain is an amazing result. Do you/can you use any other medications to manage your symptoms? That is very interesting about the eczema as well. LDN seems to help so many people with so many different conditions, it doesn't surprise me that it's had some impact on your eczema. Really happy to hear that as well. You must be so pleased! Thank you again for sharing here. Warmly, -Catherine, Community Moderator
