Is my jaw causing or compounding hearing issues?

Any body else wonder about that?
A lot my sore spots are related to enthesis, the soft tissues connecting muscle to bones. I do have hearing loss and I'm pretty sure it's a symptom of PSA. Lately I'm experiencing radical and sudden changes in my hearing and I think it's getting triggered by my jaw.
Does anyone experience this?
I got all the regular complaints of pain, stiffness, my eyes are coo koo, psoriasis, fatigue.. I don't move the same but I'm not crippled.
Just wondering about this new level of ridiculousness. 🙃
Anybody?

  1. That is a great question, . I hope some of our community members with any experience with hearing loss, PsA, and jaw pain jump in and share with you here. It certainly seems possible that this is a new level of ridiculousness! (It always seems to be one thing after another with PsA.)

I did find an article one of our health leaders wrote about the different ways her jaw pain can impact things in this article, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/jaw-arthritis. Also, this article has information from a director of audiology about PsA and hearing loss that you might be interested in, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/audiologist-hearing-loss. Is this something you've spoken with your doctor about at all?

Hopefully you also get some feedback from other community members also. Wishing you a gentle evening. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. I have a psoriasis friend that completely lost her hearing due to the inflammation the PsA was causing. She now has to wear special hearing aids to be able to hear. I do know the PsA can and will affect your jaw due to the inflammation. If you think your jaw is causing a problem with your hearing, have you set up an appointment to have it checked out? If so or when you do, please let us know how that goes if you want to. Vickie, Team Member

      1. Hi , good to see your name pop up here again, although I am sorry to read about everything you've been dealing with. Alongside the great input from Christine and Vickie, I wanted to share the following article from on living with PsA-induced fluctuating hearing loss: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/psa-induced-hearing-loss - it sounds like you may be able to relate. Hoping you can get to the bottom of what's going on. Please keep us posted if you can. Warmly, -Catherine, Community Moderator

        1. Thank you, for the replies and the links to articles, and for just being there. I don't know anyone else in my personal sphere that also has PSA. It amazes me how PSA messes with my mind at times.
I pictured little devils playing games, romping around inside my body. They talk to each other, " I like hammering on his neck!" "Oh, I like messin' with his back and hips." "What about his elbows and wrists?" "Pttt, hold my beer...."
          👺

          1. , you're more than welcome. This community is here anytime you have questions, need support or just want a place to let any frustrations out. PsA gives us such a lot to deal with. I totally understand what you mean when you say that it messes with your mind at times. An issue that exacerbated when those around us can't really relate or truly understand. I have to say, your description of the little devils playing games made me chuckle - that's such a fitting analogy! There's always something (or multiple things!) to be coping with when it comes to PsA. Hoping today is kind to you. Warmly, -Catherine, Community Moderator
