I was diagnosed with Psoriasis in July of last year. I didn't think much of it aside from the constant itching. I was diagnosed by a Dermatologist. He quickly made a referral for a consult to Rheumatology, and before I knew it, I was a full-blown patient.
Noticing more symptoms
Over the next several months life began to change. Some things were small. By Winter, I started noticing that I was missing keys on the keyboard while at work. Almost like my left ring finger was dead and unable to hit keys. Due to this, I was started on Methotrexate. Methotrexate is not my favorite. It feels like I trade psoriasis patches for feelings of sickness, severe fatigue, and what feels like a hangover. A few months after that I started noticing that my ankles, knees, hips, elbows, wrists, and fingers become sore and painful after prolonged use. Especially if I happen to be doing something above arm level.
Psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis
It was then that I found out I was dealing with Psoriatic Arthritis. Now, I can't seem to hold items, particularly with my right index and middle finger, or they will fall. I am taking Humira Pen, but it's only been since last month. Since my diagnosis, I feel like my whole life is a flare-up. I haven't had a really decent day in about 10 months.
When will it get better? Will it get better? I just recently turned 30, and my prospects don't feel any more reassuring.
