Help, pain off the scale

I'm lying in bed unable to move as my knee is flaring massively. Second time in less than month, I'm unable to take painkillers other than paracetamol, due to kidney disease, I'm hooked up to two tens machines which are not making difference and I've tried heat and ice.
Anyone got any further ideas please

  1. Hi . I am sorry to hear you are dealing with so much pain. I can so relate. I need a knee replacement surgery on my left knee. Can you make it to your bathtub by chance? If so, maybe you could try using epsom salt in a warm water bath and soak your knee. It helps me. Please keep us up to date on how you are doing. I know other members of this community will chime in with suggestions also. Vickie W., Team Member

    1. Thanks for replying Vickie. The bath idea sounds wonderful but I can't get in it or out of it at the moment, my stupid knee won't bend. But the idea of a long soak will keep me motivated.

      1. I am glad I can at least offer up something to help keep you motivated. Knee pain is no joke. I wish you the best luck going forward. Vickie W., Team Member

    2. Gonna be honest here; you need a cortisone injection in your knee, possibly followed up with a short course of Prednisone. I know this isn't optimal if you already suffer kidney disease, but it's going to be your best course of therapy for a flare like this. I am not a doctor, or medical professional, so my advice is coming only from my own experience.

      1. I'm so glad you were able to get some relief with the cortisone injection and course of prednisone. Did you have this same type of pain in your knee? As you point out, what works for one person won't necessarily be the best course of action for another, but it's so nice of you to share what helped you in the past.

    3. , I also just wanted to chime in and tell you how sorry I am to hear that you're in such pain. Have you been able to reach out to your doctor about how much your pain has increased? One of our health leaders put together this article with some of her ideas for pain relief that I wanted to share with you, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/natural-pain-relief.
