Have You Had Injections For Facet Joint?

I remember getting these shots years ago. It was probably one or two of them that I can remember. They actually used to work for a few months at a time. I'm not sure why the doctor stopped giving them to me.

Does anyone take these shots now? If so, how long do they work? Are they helping?

We would love to hear from you.

  1. Wow. How timely it is that I saw this tonight. I was just describing these very injections I had some 11 years ago to relieve back pain. Now I’ve had a fair amount of massive surgery on my back over the last 12 years but I was only diagnosed with psa 12 months ago and it’s left me wondering how much of this surgery was necessary.

    1. I've got pretty bad deterioration of some of the cervical facet joints, but I've managed to hold off on injections so far. My experience with cortisone injections, and I've had lots of them, is that they begin to be less effective over time the more often you get them. I used to have cortisone injections into my AC joints years ago following multiple injuries lifting weights. Eventually, injections that gave me several months of relief would only give me a few weeks, then a few days of relief from pain. My last injection lasted about as long as it took me to get from the doctor's office to my car. So doctors stopped prescribing the injections, and told me to just stop lifting.

      1. I started it in August 23, and the loading dose kicked in pretty fast, in a couple of weeks. I've accepted that no medicine is going to give me 100% relief from this disease, but Skyrizi has allowed me to live a relatively normal life, and one on my own terms.

      2. This is good to hear. I need some relief. I'm good with just 50% right now. I'm so numb to the pain that I just deal with it. I just don't like the fact that it's messing with my hands. Methotrexate helped alot. I'm hoping I can get back on it. Won't know until next month. We have a disease that keeps on giving. Thanks for sharing.
