  1. Hello, , thanks for reaching out. I am so sorry to hear that you're feeling scared and currently housebound. Please know that our community is here for you! Dealing with health conditions can really be scary, and those feelings you're having are understandable.

I don't personally have experience with synovial hypertrophy, but I hope that any of our community members with experience or information can share with you here. Unfortunately, the extent of my knowledge about synovial fluid comes from this article https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/psa-symptoms/affected-joints in the section about inflammation of joint fluid, and googling. Have you been diagnosed with PsA? Or has your doctor talked about doing an operation for this condition? There are a lot of treatment options available for PsA, including treatment with methotrexate as well as dmards, although, as I mentioned, I'm not too sure about synovial hypertrophy. I'll include a link to more information on PsA treatment here, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/treatment.

I'm sorry I couldn't be more specifically helpful, but hopefully our community members can chime in with their knowledge and experiences.

In the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out here, and know that this community is here for you. I'm crossing my fingers that your appointment on the 23rd is helpful and, if you're comfortable, please let us know how it goes. If you have other questions or concerns, please let us know!

Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. It is always scary facing the unknown . I do not have experience with synovial hypertrophy. I had to Google what it was. I do, however, have experience with methotrexate. I tried both the pill and liquid version of it. The pill was easier to take. The liquid form the doctor told me to put it in a glass of coke or something that would help cut the taste of it. In my case it was for the treatment of psoriasis though. After trying both versions I was finally put on something else because I was so widespread. The doctor told me it would need to be a biologic. Since that first biologic I have been on five others.

Best advice I can give is to try the methotrexate and see if it helps or not. We are all different and respond to medication in different ways. If you are so inclined, please come back and tell us how your appointment went. We are here for you. Sending you gentle hugs. Vickie, Team Member
