Foot growth

I am curious if anybody else has had unusual foot growth. I’m not talking about toes swelling up or any temporary symptoms. I used to wear a size 11 1/2 or 12 up until the last few years. Now I’m up to a 14 in 7x wide and it is nearly impossible to find shoes.
I’m not fat and my arches haven’t fallen. I’m not diabetic and have ruled out the other obvious causes. I have other arthritic issues which may be responsible but thought I’d ask here if slowly turning into a Bigfoot is an obscure part of PSA.

  1. Hi . That's a pretty big change, but it is not unusual to need a bigger shoe size as you get older, especially if you have autoimmune arthritis. I do not have PsA, but I was a size 10 throughout my 20s and 30s, and I have been an 11 since my twin pregnancy at 40 years old. Sometimes, even 11 are too tight. My foot size didn't change at all after my first two pregnancies. From what I have learned in my own research, your feet can't actually grow as an adult, but looser ligaments and tendons can bring you up a whole foot size even without fallen arches. Throw in even slight damage to any of those joints and that can bring them up another size. Here is an article from the Cleveland Clinic about foot changes in adulthood that might interest you: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/shoes-getting-tight-feet-change-size-time/. I can't imagine trying to find shoes that wide. I am guessing the usual wide brands, like Propet, don't fit you. Hitchcock is an online company that specializes in wide shoes and has some as big as 8E. I hope others chime in here with their experiences. I am sure you are not alone. Thinking of you and wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)
