Has anyone's foot pain been diagnosed as "Charcot's foot," who is NOT diabetic?

I have psoriatic arthritis & psoriasis. I have major foot pain, sharp burning & stabbing for quite awhile. After numerous X-rays & MRI's I was told I have Charcot's Foot, which is very common in diabetics. Thankfully I am not diabetic. Unfortunately, that leads to some issues with insurance covering special orthotics because it is only covered for diabetics. If your foot pain has been diagnosed as Charcot's foot, what treatment have you had?

  1. Hi . I have not heard of a diagnosis of Charcot foot from any of our members, but that doesn't mean you won't find someone else who has it. While you wait for responses from the community, I wanted to share with you this article from the Cleveland Clinic. As you will see, the cause of Charcot foot is actually unknown even though it is most common among diabetics. It might be worse arguing your case with your insurance company with the support of your doctor. I hope this helps and that you get the relief you need and deserve. Best wishes! - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Thanks for looking into it. Pleading a case with insurance companies takes stamina.
