Diagnosis

I'm sure I have PSORATIC ARTHRITIS but how do you get diagnosed. I'm being referred to a chronic pain clinic but don't seem interested in finding the cause. I'm waiting on a knee replacement and have put me on morphine sulphate but not looking into the cause. Thankyou for any advice.

  1. See a Rheumatologist to get an accurate autoimmune arthritis diagnosis. This includes PsA. RA. AS and many others. Orthopedic drs, primary care drs, etc dont usually have the background education or run the right tests for autoimmune diseases. Dont forget to do your physical therapy before and after surgery for your knee. Keep in mind you will have to continue the physical therapy exercises for the rest of your life in order for your knee replacement to last as well as not lead to post op complications. Good luck!

    1. PsA is Psoriatic Arthritis. There are more than 1 type of that. RA is Rheumatoid Arthritis, AS is Ankylosing Spondylitis. These can all be learned about better on the following websites: National Institute of Health.org; Mayo.com; Medical News Today. Com. You can also do a simple Google search of your questions for more info. That's how I started a few years ago. You need a Rheumatologist to diagnose you. If you don't already have one, most, but not all, require a referral from your regular family dr. I hope this helps.

    2. thanks

  2. have you been referred to a Rheumatologist? If not you need to ask your doctor for a referral. It still might take some time to get a diagnosis but the Rheumatologist will be the one to make that determination. Vickie W., Team Member
