Real talk: August is Psoriasis Awareness Month. A little over a year ago I was diagnosed with Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis. It has been a journey to fight for my health and mobility and still be a good wife, mother, and educator. The struggle with pain, stiffness, and chronic fatigue has been overwhelming at times. This past spring and summer were really hard on me. I had to use a cane on and off because of a really bad flare. It was hard to realize that I needed a mobility device from time to time.
But today is a time to celebrate. I just graduated from physical and occupational therapy. My mobility is restored and I have restarted my yoga and pilates practice. I feel really good and strong! And, I'm on a great treatment plan to maintain. My disease can be unpredictable and flares will happen, but I am learning to prioritize my health and do what I have to do with no shame or apology.Be encouraged fellow autoimmune and chronic warriors.
