Pain Levels

I’m responding to the article concerning pain level reporting when seen by primary care and other doctors.

I was seeing an orthopedic surgeon for after-care of shoulder surgery for arthritis. He didn’t want to hear about my pain any longer, but fortunately for me, he referred me to a pain clinic 30 miles from my home. I wasn’t aware that there were such doctors.

Visiting a pain clinic for psoriatic arthritis

I now have psoriatic arthritis and it manifests itself in different areas of my body at different times. It was the best thing I have done for my pain levels. The doctors there listen to me and explain my pain and prescribe the correct medication for that pain to help me through my PT and healing process. I go in monthly for urine checks and pain level checks. They don’t ask for a number – they listen to what I’m saying about how I feel. My primary care doctor is awesome but does not handle chronic pain care. She also recommended I continue seeing the pain care clinic.
