Chiroflow Pillow and Hemp Balm - Your Community Recommendations
In our last community recommendations article, we reviewed the TENS unit, Hurry Cane, Zensah sleeve, and Biotin. We started this series to share favorite products from the community (as we know the best recommendations come from those who understand!). Here’s a new bunch of recommendations to take you into the summer.
Sleepyhead Chiropractor Bed
We know that psoriatic arthritis makes sleeping difficult. Achy joints can keep you awake, even when you’re exhausted. Having the right bed can make a huge difference. Sleepyhead’s chiropractic beds boast many features that community members say give them a great night’s sleep, despite the PsA. The quilt top promotes breathability and relieves pressure on joints. The mattress structure is designed to reduce back stress and promote good spinal alignment. If you’re one of the many PsA sufferers who has back pain, this might help (watch out though, it’s pretty pricey!).
Chiroflow Pillow
While we’re on the topic of chiropractor-approved sleep products, the Chiroflow Pillow claims to reduce neck pain, and is sold by Chiropractors enrolled in the Chiroflow program. The pillows contain a waterbase support technology that provides cervical support while sleeping, layered with breathable memory foam and 100% cotton. They are also hypoallergenic and anti-microbial, which is good news for anyone with an immune system that’s already doing overtime. I also have to wonder if this would be good for those with migraine who are super sensitive to needing proper neck alignment while sleeping.
Papa and Barkley Hemp Balm
Papa and Barkley Hemp-infused Balm comes from the farms of Colorado and contains hemp oil to help soothe achy joints. It also contains eucalyptus, tea tree, peppermint, and lavender essential oils (which sounds like something I need in my life). The balm is described as having an “activated warmth” which is then followed by a cooling sensation – the perfect balance between hot and cold therapies for PsA. The product has a money back guarantee and the company is a member of One Percent for the Planet, an international organization that enlists businesses to donate at least 1% of their sales to worthwhile environmental initiatives.
Marshmallow Root Powder
You may have caught the leaky gut article on our sister site, which describes what leaky gut is and how it is measured. If you think leaky gut is mumbo jumbo, skip on down to our bonus recipe! If not, check out this Marshmallow Root Powder from MicroIngredients, which claims to improve digestion and overall gut health. There have been a handful of research studies that suggest there’s merit behind these claims, in addition to marshmallow root extract being helpful for coughing (you can even buy it in lozenge format!). As with any supplement, check in with your Doctor before starting something new.
BONUS RECIPE!
Shout out to community member Karen who recommended this home remedy for itchy skin and achy joints: dissolve 2 cups of baking soda and 1 cup of Epsom salt into your bath and soak for 45 minutes to an hour. Definitely a cost-effective solution to up your bath game ;). Thanks, Karen!
