Does anyone else have short term memory issues alongside PsA?

Does anyone else having extreme short term memory issues?

  1. I'm so glad you reached out, . I hope some of our community members with memory issues and brain fog can share with you here. You're definitely not alone. A lot of our community members with PsA are impacted by memory issues and brain fog and wanted to share this article with you from our health leader, Leanne, about memory loss and PsA, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/memory-loss Is this something that you've recently begun to struggle with? We appreciate you starting this forum, and I hope that you can get some helpful and insightful feedback. Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. Hi , sorry to hear that you're struggling with memory issues. As Christine says, you're definitely not alone in this. I have had some short-term memory issues in the past. Now, when the brain fog is bad, the main trouble I have is feeling like I can't think properly. I also sometimes struggle with word recall. When I've been in a severe PsA flare in the past, I've had difficulties with long-term/automatic (not sure what the correct term is) memory - I've "forgotten" things like my birth date, which side of the road to drive on and how to screw a bottle lid back on. Things that should be second nature as an adult. Do you mind sharing more about what kind of things you are struggling with? I know all kinds of memory issues can feel scary. Have you been able to chat with your doctor about what you're experiencing? Warmest wishes, -Catherine, Community Moderator

      2. actually I do. I lose periods of time in my memory. It is deeply concerning for me because Alzheimer's runs on my mom's side of the family. Do you find anything that makes it better? Have you mentioned it to your doctor? Vickie W., Team Member
