Is it Ok to take methotrexate and enbrel injections during the same week?

Hello! I am 21 years old, I have had psoriasis all my life. About 1 month and a half ago, I was diagnosed with psoriasis arthritis.

Now I'm taking a pain reliever medication and I'm on Methotrexate injections. Next week, I'm going to start Enbrel injections too. My question is, is it safe to have Methotrexate and Enbrel together in the same treatment?

The doctor did tell me to leave at least two days between Methotrexate and the Enbrel injections, but I'm too afraid of having to take a lot of injections and afraid also of the long-term side effects of these medications. I'm still new so I don't know much but thank you so much to whoever reading this, responding and helping me. <3

  1. Hi ! Hopefully, some community members will chime in here. I do not have experience with either medication, but I know some members take both while others take the Enbrel by itself. My brother has PsA. He takes Enbrel only and it has fully relieved both his skin and pain issues. Everyone reacts differently to different medications though. If you are nervous about taking both, it would hurt to talk to your doctor about giving up the Methotrexate. Best wishes! – Lori, Psoriatic-Arthritis.com, Team Member
