House cleaning

I was wondering if anyone has housecleaning tips or recommended products especially for the tub and shower. I feel fortunate that I am well enough to work and that my spouse does the majority of the cleaning and household chores, but he doesn't clean the tub or shower often enough or well enough for my liking. He literally does almost everything around here, so I have no complaints. We cannot afford outside help. What cleaning supplies and products do you use to make the job easier? I would appreciate any advice.

  1. Hi . We have had many great threads in our Facebook community with cleaning hacks and product recommendations for people with PsA, but I can't seem to find a similar thread in our website community. If you do an internet search for "electric spin scrubber," you will find battery-powered spin brushes for cleaning tubs and showers. I bought one myself because after breaking my wrist a few years back and I love it. I hope you get more responses here. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. we are on a well and septic so we are very mindful to use only septic safe products. Lori with the admin mentioned a spin scrubber which I myself have never thought of and will look into. We have been using a kitchen scrubber, the kind that you can put soap into the handle, we just put in our dish soap and leave the scrubbie brush in the shower. We pick it up, get it wet and scrub away. It works great for the in between days. My husband does the deep cleans on the shower and the toilet , his go to is scrubbing bubbles and pine sol. I use lysol wipes for the in between times, then scrubbing bubbles for the deeper clean.

      1. , I can relate! My mum does everything around the house but I feel like if I'm only able to bath once or twice a week, I really want the bath to be super clean before I get in it.

I use a sponge on a long-ish stick which helps with not bending over so much or hurting my hands by grabbing on to/squeezing a sponge. I actually don't recommend the one I use because the sponge flips around as I'm using it and it's extremely aggravating (if anyone has one that they recommend, I'd love to hear). It definitely makes cleaning the bath easier though. I also like to use the spray-on foam bath cleaners that you just leave to work for ~15 minutes and then rinse off.

I'm definitely going to look into the spin scrubber that mentioned - it sounds amazing. Loving all the tips that everyone has shared here! -Catherine, Community Moderator
