High estrogen levels

Just been reading that high estrogen levels in the body can cause joint pain, is this something causing psa, stress causes high estrogen levels, too much body fat and alcohol. Do you think lowering these levels will take pain away?

  1. What a great question, ! While I don't know whether or not lowering estrogen levels would impact joint pain, I do know that fluctuating hormones does seem to impact PsA symptoms. That being said, the information I've read indicates that it's typically lower estrogen levels that increases joint pain. (I'm including a link to a couple of articles that we have on this, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/hormonal-changes, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/when-aunt-flo-met-psa) Hopefully some of our community members here can also share any experiences they have with their symptoms and estrogen levels. Do you remember where you were reading that information? I'm curious to look into that also. And, have you had a chance to ask your doctor about this at all? Wishing you a gentle day. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

I know this might be advertisement but this could be a factor, I'm just one of those people that need to know what triggered mine and can't accept no one knows as the doctors say

      1. Hi , yes, that is definitely an advertisement. Personally, I am a bit skeptical when companies that are trying to sell me things say they can fix any issues that even the doctors are still trying to figure out. That being said, I can appreciate your need to know what might have triggered your PsA. Unfortunately, autoimmune conditions can be so tricky, and I know that doctors and researchers too would like to be able to definitively say why or what causes these conditions. Have you ever been diagnosed with psoriasis? I ask this because a large majority of people with PsA have psoriasis as well. Genetics can also (but not always) play a roll in autoimmune disease as well. I think I shared this article with you responding to another of your posts, but I'm sharing it here as well, just in case, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/psa-basics/cause-triggers. It has some information on triggers of PsA. I do hope that you can get some answers and helpful information! Are you working with a rheumatologist? Wishing you a gentle day. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
