High Blood Pressure

Has anyone else with Psoriatic Arthritis have blood pressure issues

  1. Hi . I hope you get some responses from the community. Do you get high blood pressure or low blood pressure? Does it stay at concerning levels or does it vary? My brother has PsA and his blood pressure will sometimes leap into the high 200s for the top number. It always comes back down eventually, so his doctor has not put him on any blood pressure meds. He is certain it is related to his PsA, but he's not sure how. His cardiac tests have been normal. He figures it's probably due to temporary inflammation. PsA can lead to vascular problems. Here is an article from our editorial team about PsA and Coronary Artery Disease that might interest you: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/clinical/coronary-artery-disease. I hope this helps. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Hi, I have also suffer with high blood pressure & very rarely it gets too low.
My GP put me on Lisinopril, blood pressure tablets, to help bring it to a healthy level. I was on three a day, now only on two, my pressure is now fine, it's just the rest of me that isn't
      🥺.

      1. I am glad you at least have your blood pressure under control, . Are you taking medication for your PsA or have you not found anything that helps yet? Thinking of you and wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

    2. Over the years I've had many types, tablets & self injecting biologic meds.
Four years ago I had a serious infection & underwent major surgery. Then a year later the infection hadn't been totally erased & I had sepsis & then 3 major operations in the same leg as before. I was taken off Sekunemab I've only gabapentin since, which doesn't really help & now my specialist's at king's, have decided to put me back on it, because PsA is getting worse I now have the start of heart disease.
PsA is a cruel disease to have, I inherited it from my mum, but she wasn't diagnosed with it, until she moved in with us. Her GP just didn't refer her to any specialist's & she just kept quiet & carried on.
Luckily for us these days things get caught early & treatment is immediately sorted to slow it down.
      Best wishes
      Carrie

    3. I’ve had high blood pressure for around 30 years. Now I have the problem of my bp dropping really low when I stand up suddenly. I now have to wear compression stockings. I get some exercise in the morning putting the stockings on and again in the evening taking them off! 😆

      1. @michigannana I have to say I love your response about getting exercise. Never thought of putting on or taking off compression stockings as exercise. Sorry to hear about the blood pressure dropping on you though. I'm sure it means being more careful when you stand up. Vickie W., Team Member
