Has anyone tried

Hello has anyone used Bimzelex or Rinvoq? How have you found it? Side effects? Thanks so much

  1. I could not find an article concerning your question. I saw where only one other person in our community started using it. am I right that you have started using it? If so, could you provide some information here? Vickie, Team Member

    1. Yes, I started about two weeks ago, so I’ve only received one injection. So far, there have been no weird reactions, but the shot was more painful than Cosentyx.

    2. Dewi here in Aus., I have been injecting Bimzelx approx. nine weeks ago. So far no change either + or -.
Disappointing as this is my fifth (5th) Biologic & nothing + to report on any of them. Typically targeting TNF & ILs.
I hope it works for you.

  2. I've not used either, but I am currently on Xeljanz, and have found it to work well. However, I am going to ask my rheumatologist to switch me over to Rinvoq, as from what I can find in literature online, it appears to have fewer adverse effects involving cardiovascular events or blood clots. This is a concern for me, as I do have some mild arteriosclerosis. Otherwise, from what I've read, the two pretty much work the same, with pretty similar results.

    1. Thank you so much for replying. Yes that’s the one my rheumatologist is thinking of. It’s all so confusing. I’ve been on adalimumab for 3.5 years and all of a sudden it’s not working for me. Take care.

      1. I have tried both. I’m on Bimzelx now. (only one dose into my loading) I understand it’s a new biologic. Two years ago, I was on Rinvoq. Cosentyx last year. Nothing works for me. So frustrating.

    2. I've been on Rinvoq now for a week, and my symptoms have not been near as well managed as on the Xeljanz, and in fact have worsened from where they were. When I started Xeljanz, the effect was immediate, like noticed some improvement by the end of the second day. Xeljanz is a non-selective JAKi, where as Rinvoq is selective, targeting JAK 1. Everyone's experience is going to be different, particularly since the expression of this disease is so highly individualized. But for me, at least, Xeljanz appears to have the superior therapeutic effect.

      1. Oh hell, I messaged my rheumy yesterday to get me back on the Xeljanz. And fortunately, I still have a two week supply of it that I was wise enough to hold back just in case of something like this. JAKi's don't generally take long to kick in, though it may feel like it for those with severe disease symptoms. I began the Xeljanz again yesterday, and actually began to feel some improvement by last night. Today is even better. Back and neck are now greatly improved, and I didn't wake up feeling like my hands were in a vise all night long.

      2. , oh it's such a relief to hear that you're back on the Xeljanz and feeling the benefits already. Hoping you wake up today feeling even better! That was good thinking to keep a backup supply just in case the Rinvoq didn't work out. I'm glad you've switched back. It's scary how quickly symptoms can rear their ugly heads again. Thank you for sharing here and being so generous with your experiences. We appreciate you! Warmly, -Catherine, Community Moderator
