Flash back, panic attack … thought I was feeling normal

I have been feeling so good for the past few months that I thought maybe my PSA nightmare was behind me, yes I have some issues like a right shoulder that drives me crazy and the right hand and big toes that act up… in spite of those issues I feel good except being tired more often.

I had a horrible week. Five days ago I had a flashback and panic attack of when I first experienced my PSA Flare 7 years ago…. I dropped my husband off and came home humming away feeling good walked into my house and all hell broke out I was hit with pain unlike anything I have ever felt in my life. I stood still for a minute thinking maybe I twisted my back and it would relax but boy was I wrong the pain was insane it attacked my lower back, hips, butt, front and back and sides of both legs clear down to my knees…. I have never experienced pain so wide spread in one big area and this furious.

I finally made it to bed to lay down but even that took me forever and extremely painful. I took pain medication and that didn’t even touch the pain. I woke up the next morning and it was almost impossible to walk (flash back to 7 years earlier) at one point I thought I was going to have to call 911 because I can’t lay down, sit down or walk what was I going to do was running through my mind (Im home alone) for the next 5 days…. Now Im panicking that this is another PSA attack and now Im going to have to deal with a bummed shoulder that won’t let me sleep or raise my arm to now a lower body that won’t let me walk… I do have my yearly checkup with Rheumatologist coming up but nothing she will be able to fix.

Its been 5 days and finally my pain has subsided a little bit but I still have to be cautious when moving, sitting or laying down … My lower back has been a source of pain since my nightmare started 7 years ago but nothing even close to the crippling pain I just experienced.

Anyone experience lower back to knee pains?

  1. Hi that sounds so scary and especially to be home alone. I'm glad to hear that the pain has subsided somewhat. Have you tried to call your Rheumatologist to see if you can get in on an emergency basis? For it to just hit you out of the blue like that after so long makes me wonder if something else may be going on. Personally, I have not heard anyone else experience that but I am sure our community will have some answers for you hopefully. Vickie W., Team Member

    1. What else do you think it could it be? One of my earliest issues with pain before the PSA diagnosis was lower back (the area closest to butt and butt area) and that kind of went away when I started to experience pain on the tendons of my feet and then I was diagnosed with PSA.

    2. Hi I am not a doctor by any means which is why I asked about contacting your rheumatologist. I would not even presume to guess. It could be the PsA but as you said it normally does not hit that many areas all at once. Vickie W., Team Member
