How long did it take for you to get your disease under control after symptoms began?

Hi! I am asking on behalf of another community member:

"How long did it take for you to get your disease under control after symptoms began?"

I'm sure this may vary person to person and for some this may still be a work in progress. Please share your experiences if you feel comfortable. Thank you!

  1. A few months

    1. that's great! Can I ask what has helped you get your PsA symptoms under control? -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

  2. I'm not sure I would say that I've ever gotten this disease "under control". I've had periods of semi-remission, and long stretches of minimal disease activity. But, in the end, it is always the disease that regains the upper hand. I've only ever been able to manage its effects on me.

    1. that is a very good distinction. For many people "under control" might mean different things, and for some, "under control" might feel like it never happens. How are you managing currently? I hope that you're experiencing a period of semi-remission and/or minimal disease activity! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    2. I'm currently on Skyrizi since last August. I've experienced no flares since then, but after the initial loading dose, the stiffness came back to my PIP joints, and just recently, I've had to take Prednisone for the pain in two of them after NSAIDs failed to do anything. Right now I feel just like I did back in 2020 before going on biologics, so honestly do not know how well my disease is being managed. I've already failed four b-DMARDs, and I'm currently waiting for Abbvie to contact my rheumy with info on a blood test for ADAs for Skyrizi to see if I've developed immunogenicity. I guess the more accurate statement than "under control" or "managing" would be "dealing with".
