Cannot Cope

I am in the middle of getting results from a blood test for psoriatic arthritis. Because of symptoms (psoriasis, bad knee, shoulder, neck, back, sausage fingers) my doctor is 99% sure I have it. I am not sure I can cope with it any longer. I'm very depressed. Also I've been some stomach issues, griping and also very dizzy and increased heart rate. Is this something that could be related to psoriatic arthritis? I take a fee ibuprofen a day but I'm reluctant to everyday incase that's what is affecting my stomach. My pain is very bad in the morning and when I've sat down. I don't know what to do. Someone please help me.

  1. Hi . I wish you were not in so much pain. I hope you get results soon and that you can then get the treatment and relief you need and deserve. Stomach problems are not generally symptoms of PsA except as side effects to certain medications, but it is not unusual for people with one chronic illness to develop another. Here is an article from one of our advocates who learned she also has colitis: https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/ulcerative-colitis-pain. Colitis and Crohn's disease are often comorbidities of psoriatic arthritis. Stomach upset can also be indicative of acid reflux, which can cause cancer if it is not controlled. Have you talked with our primary care doctor about your stomach issues? If not, it would probably be wise to do so and to get a referral to a gastroenterologist. If you do have PsA, you will likely be prescribe medications that could make your stomach problems worse. Better to play it safe and get a full evaluation. I hope this helps. Please keep us posted if you feel comfortable doing so and know we are here for you if you need us. Best of all wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
