Bimzelx

I am about to start my eighth or ninth biologic in eight years— Bimzelx

Has anyone tried it?

  1. Oh I hope any of our community members with experience on Bimzelx can share with you here, . While I don't know about Bimzelx (your comment is actually the first I've heard of it so I had to do a little research), I do know that so many here can relate to the challenges and frustrations of eight (or more) biologics in as many years. Unfortunately, it can be hard to find a treatment that brings relief with minimal side effects, and even once something works, sometimes it loses effectiveness over time. Has this been your experience with your previous eight biologics as well?

I don't know if you're feeling hopeful/positive about starting a new biologic or if this is something that you're feeling discouraged about, but I wanted to share this article with you about treatment fatigue, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/treatment-fatigue, just in case you're also feeling a bit of this.

I'm crossing my fingers you can get some helpful feedback here! Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. , I'm not sure how I feel, to be honest. I hate shots, but once I finish the uploading, I take it every other month, so that's a plus. Cosentyx was the least hurting shot I've taken, so I hope this one isn't worse. Also, I have IBS, and Bimzelx can make it worse. I couldn't take Otezla because of that issue. So, I'm up in the air at this point! I'll let you know! Thank you!

      1. ugh, I can hear the uncertainty you're feeling. It's so hard not to know how a treatment is going to impact you. And it sounds like you've had your fair share of challenges finding treatment. I'm glad that it's an every other month medication (if you don't like shots that definitely sounds like a plus!), but hearing that it can make IBS worse sounds disconcerting, especially because that was the problem with Otezla for you. I wish there could be more certainly for you, and I'm really crossing my fingers that Bimzelx is the magic relief you deserve! No pain in injection and no gastrointestinal side effects!

I imagine you're a pro by now (after eight! biologics), but just in case, I wanted to share this article with you from one of our advocates with some of her ideas for giving injections, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/giving-yourself-injections-tips. Also, I know that this next article I'm sharing is technically on our RA site, but I find it's still a helpful article because it's about her injection tips and less about the specific condition, https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/methotrexate-injection.

Finally, as you mention IBS, I just wanted to make sure that you're aware of our sister site, https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/. There you'll find the same information, community, and support for those impacted by IBS as you do here for PsA.

Again, I really do hope that some of our community members see your question and share their experiences with you. And, please let us know how it goes. I'm crossing my fingers! Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    2. Thank you for all that information. I’m always ready for shot day tips!
