Bad day x2

Today is a bad day. The pain. Yesterday was a good morning that went bad afterlunch. I did some laundry. That was all. I did not carry baskets, my daughter brought them to me. I had to take pain medicine to get through my day and I don't like the side effects. The hip, torso, and feet pain is relentless.
Today is methotrexate x7 tabs and I'm dreading it. It is my 4th week now and I want to stop. It doesn't feel like it's helping.. The only change I have noticed is the swelling in my feet stays down longer now. I'm sitting on the heating pad for my hips and it's 70° outside. Has anyone had increased pain with the swelling changing?? This is really hard. I am being diagnosed by clinicals and family history not confirmed by labs or imaging. Those were all ok. My Dr said it's best to wait it out 12 weeks....frustrated.

  1. Hi @vabowen300, I can understand why you would be so frustrated. I really wish you were not having such a bad day. It is so hard to be on a medicine for four weeks that you do not think is helping. Unfortunately we do hear that it can take up to 12 weeks to see the benefits. We are so glad you are here, and we truly understand the challenges and struggles. I am sending you an article from one of our advocates, that I really hope can help you. 1. Thank you so much!!

      1. Today is better everyone. Took my 7 tablet dose of methotrexate yesterday afternoon. Didn't feel great last night..fatigue and chills and weak. The pain is in the background at the moment but my feet are just waiting to explode. Has anyone had increased pain while waiting for methotrexate to work??? The foot pain is awful. And now my heels hurt. I did walk the dog and felt ok moving. Standing in one spot is bad as well as sitting. My right hip and back do not like it. Thanks for the support!!

        1. Hi @vabowen300. So happy to hear that today is a better day. I have foot pain so I can relate on that part. However, I am not on methotrexate. I definitely can relate to the hip and back pain as well. Looking forward to my next rheumatologist appointment to discuss this. How about you? When do you see your rheumatologist again? If you would like you can also go to our Facebook page at psoriaticarthritisdotcom and post your question there. Hoping tomorrow is an even better day for you. Vickie W., Team Member
