Arthritis in the jaw

I was diagnosed with arthritis in the jaw! I have to use small utensils , I found out as silly as it sounds using children's silverware helps me eat better ! I haven't been able to go to dentist in awhile because I can't open my mouth far enough ! It's very painful at times !

  1. Oh ouch, , arthritis of the jaw sounds incredibly painful and challenging. Not being able to open your mouth wide enough certainly poses challenges for being able to visit the dentist! I wanted to let you know that you definitely aren't alone in having this experience. One of our advocates wrote an article about her experience with jaw pain, which turned out to be TMJ, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/ouch-my-jaw-hurts. And another advocate who wrote about all the ways her jaw arthritis impacts her whole body, https://psoriatic-arthritis.com/living/jaw-arthritis.

It's great that you've found a way around some of the challenges by using children's silverware. What a helpful idea to more easily eat! Thank you for sharing it with us.

Hopefully some of our community members here can also chime in and share their experiences with jaw arthritis with you!

Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
