My Psoriatic Arthritis Experiences: Spooka

I have had PsA now for 10 months at 70 years of age. At first, I was treated for gout. Then pseudogout, until they discovered PsA. The pain I endured for 6 months was terrible, depression started to set in. I ended up in hospital for a week as my c reactive protein was at 175. I could hardly walk or use my hands. Every joint in my body was on fire.

Were you initially misdiagnosed with a different condition before PsA?

Starting psoriatic arthritis treatment

After 3 months on 1.5 of methotrexate, it was still at 60. So my numerologist upped it to 2.0 and 20mg of Arava and the difference was amazing, I could say I was at 70% precondition. Now and again a toe or finger will blow up, but now the pain is tolerable without a lot of discomforts. The only downside is I get tired easily. I can enjoy a beer each day which is great.

Dealing with treatment side effects

When first on the methotrexate, I had bad constipation so I tried all sorts of remedies, but this was the golden egg pardon the pun, EVERY MORNING!!! One heaped teaspoon of Metamucil in a glass of water, one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, a bowl of All-Bran with almond/oatmeal milk. That ended my problem for good. This may also help others with constipation. I am so lucky I got PsA so late in life, I pity the poor people that get it young. No one can understand the level of pain unless they have it, even our doctors in some cases.
